I use to make our meal plan on a weekly basis, but that required too much thinking too often. Now, I create a monthly plan and find this to be much easier for me. If I get off track, I try not to beat myself up. As the saying goes, "If you aim at nothing, you'll probably hit it." What I have found is that planning ahead takes away so much of the last minute stress. Also, I can easily make a grocery list because I know what I need. I print out the plan and place in my "Homemaking Folder" so the family knows what to expect for food. Sometimes, my husband will cook the meal when I'm sick or have had a bad day. If he doesn't know how to cook something, he can easily choose another meal in that week. Having the plan in place and the appropriate groceries bought ahead of time makes the process easier for all of us. Most importantly, it helps us to avoid fast food restaurants and maintain a healthy well rounded diet.
