We recently celebrated a birthday here at the Bain house. Our oldest daughter just turned four. Our princess is making another transition into becoming a beautiful young girl. I don't know what it is about four, but this age seems to be the time that our oldest son made a transition in his thought processes and heart attitude. I see similar things occurring in our princess. She's more helpful and dependable. She is more compassionate and tenderhearted. I enjoy seeing these traits mature.
What is funny is when she went to bed the night before her birthday. She started crying while I was praying over her (my husband and I try to make a conscientious effort to pray regularly over our children when we tuck them in bed. Many times when we forget, they will be sure to remind us). When I asked her why she was crying, she said, "Because I don't want to turn four. I want to stay three."
Aww, I can't help but laugh at the cuteness of it, but she was really heart broken over the matter. Maybe it stemmed from me kidding with her and telling her, "No, you can't turn four. You have to stay my little girl. I can't let you grow up." Well, there you go - there's that tenderness I was talking about. She's already wanting to please her mommy. A little extra cuddle time and a good night's sleep, though, and she was over it by morning.
My heart is full and excited to see what God has in store for our princess this year!
