I needed a better way to keep up with the books that my son will be reading this school year. I couldn't find the exact form I wanted online, so I created my own version that will stay in my teacher binder. Feel free to print and use this if you'd like. This could work for any student (whether homeschooled or not).
Also, we are using www.bookadventure.com to test reading comprehension. It is similar to the AR reading program used in public school. So far, we love it. I went to a local consignment sale for children's clothing yesterday and was able to buy several outfits for the kids. I had to take all three along with me (and no strollers allowed), so that was an experience. My husband called me brave. I called me insane. Anyway, I found some great deals, and I thought I'd share how I plan before I go shopping.
Just before each season changes, I try to go through the kids' clothes (adults too) and plan what needs to be bought for the upcoming season. Often times, I will already have a lot of clothes because of hand-me-downs or end-of-season sales from the previous year. I use a clothing inventory worksheet for each family member that helps me fill in the gaps for needed items. Then, I take this sheet with me when I shop consignment sales and thrift stores. This has worked for our family the past year or so. Maybe you have a system that works for you. I'd love for you to share it. |
